Favorite Sports Moments: UCLA Tyus Edney, March Madness Buzzer Beater (1995); Team USA winning it’s first women’s water polo Olympic Gold (2012); UC San Diego Men’s Water Polo beating USC 9-8 in the NCAA National Championship Semi-Final to earn the school’s first trip to the championship game (2000); making the Varsity Boys Water Polo Team at AGHS as a freshman.
Biography: Danielle was born in Arroyo Grande, CA, and attended Arroyo Grande High School before leaving for UC San Diego to play water polo for the Tritons. After four successful years in La Jolla, earning a BS in Biology, breaking the school record in single season assists, and meeting Owen Main, she went on to start a career at GEICO Auto Insurance. Eight years later Danielle transitioned back to her first passion, collegiate athletics, and is now the Assistant Athletics Director for External Relations, overseeing annual giving, alumni, campus and community engagement, as well as special events. In 2011 she served as a communication consultant to Sports Club Meteor, an Olympic Training Center in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, assisting in the development of the center’s strategic plan for communication. In 2012 Danielle earned her Master’s in Sports Management from Drexel University. Danielle still plays water polo with her college teammates on Sunset Water Polo Club (La Jolla), enjoys open ocean water swimming, but always looks forward to coming home to visit the Central Coast.
