Fansmanship Podcast Episode 217 – Chris Sylvester and Brint Wahlberg
It’s another podcast episode! Cal Poly basketball teams are at the Big...
As a kid, I used to go to basketball camp at Cuesta in the summer. It was the only game in town. One staple there as a coach/counselor was Sean Chambers. He must have been well into his professional career overseas by that time, but he had a presence for a 10 year old from Cayucos.
Chambers, a native of the Sacramento area, transferred to Cal Poly from Cuesta in the mid-80’s and played two stellar seasons with the Mustangs. After 13 seasons playing professional basketball in Asia, Chambers has been a girls basketball coach in the Sacramento area ever since.
In fact, his top-seeded Antelope High School team will play for a Division II San Joaquin Section CIF championship on Friday night. In the middle of the playoffs, Chambers took some time to talk about his time in San Luis Obispo, and his experiences at Cal Poly. He even tells a story about what happens when there’s a coup in a foreign country you’re playing in.
