Favorite Sports Announcers: Tie between Chick Hearn and Vin Scully. Owen misses Chick a lot. Jeff Van Gundy is awesome too.

Favorite Sports Moments: 1 – Gibson’s Home Run in the 88 World Series 1A – Kobe’s Alley-Oop to Shaq in the 2000 Western Conference finals to seal the comeback against Portland. 1B – Tyus Edney’s coast to coast vs. Mizzou. When that shot went in, Owen was in middle school and ran out the door and up and down the street for quite a while. God only knows what the neighbors must have thought…

Biography: Owen grew up in Cayucos, CA. After high school, he majored in Communication at UC San Diego, where he was the Associate Sports Editor for the UCSD Guardian and an intern at XTRA Sports 690 and for the San Diego Gulls Hockey Club. He was also a UCSD Shuttle Driver. After moving to Florida for his “real” job, Owen wrote mostly local sports for the Hernando Today in Brooksville, FL. Owen has lived in many places including Hernando County, Florida, Pueblo, Colorado, and Alaska and volunteered as an assistant high school basketball coach for 5 years. Upon moving back to the Central Coast, Owen attended Graduate School at Cal Poly and received his Masters Degree in Education Leadership. Owen is has been married since 2009 and has recently become a self-proclaimed master of home improvement. He and his wife, Jenny, currently live in San Luis Obispo, CA.
