What you article lacks is the correlation between crazy Ron and a good head coach. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Ron kept his cool under Jackson and melted down once adelman was replaced by musselman.

You know I was joking. But you are judging from on high. . . . A playoff team, even if seeded poorly, should not be considered lowly. If you see it that way I think that its a symptom of the greater problem that the NBA allows too many playoff teams.

1) To say that the Kings were “the team that nobody wanted to face” I don’t think is accurate. They were on a run at the end of the year with Ron Ron, but I don’t know how many teams they struck fear into… Adelman had probably lost control by then and, while successful, the addition of Ron Ron wasn’t a good long term solution. I’d argue that MWP isn’t a good solution anywhere, especially not with the Lakers. There is a big difference between a “team nobody wanted to face” and a team that won a playoff series. The Kings were on the decline… kind of like the lowly Lakers seem to be now. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lakers were a 6-8 seed this year.

2) An 8-seed is lowly. In my mind it’s the worst place to be – good enough to make the playoffs, but not do anything in the playoffs, and not quite bad enough to be in the lottery. It’s the place the Lakers look like they may end up at the end of this season, and I would call them worse than lowly.

2) By your definition as (perhaps?) a Kings fan, an 8-seed is better than lowly. It’s a matter of perspective, I suppose. Lakers fans (well, at least this Lakers fan) would see any playoff seeding lower than 4 as lowly for their team. Perhaps this is a spoiled, unreasonable point of view. I am a Lakers fan (yep, that’s the name of the website) and though I do feel that way, I understand the lucky place that I have been in over the past 10 or so years. Our “tough times” were a decade (the 90’s) during which the Lakers made the playoffs every year but one.

3) Laker-biased rag? Let’s not call names. The site is basically 3 fans and two of us are Lakers fans… so yeah, I’d say we are probably “Laker-biased.” But we’re not unreasonable. Speaking of which, if you’re interested and can write without calling names, email me and we’ll see if we can’t balance out the “bias” on the site. owen@fansmanship.com . Good win today too, even though it was over what I would call a “lowly” team in the Lakers. I fear that us Lakers fans are in for a rough few years here…

They made the playoffs that year, just like they had the previous eight years in what became the last under adelman. They made it as an eight seed and were the team nobody wanted to face. They took the spurs to six games and looked like they could have won the series. The kings didn’t become lowly until adelman left.

I would like a correction printed you laker biased rag.
