The more I think about it, the more excited I get. Great depth on the defensive line, where it all starts. A linebacking corps that may be the best in the Big Sky conference. Cameron Ontko will be the fastest LB in the FCS. And if hard-hitting safety Alex Hubbard and rest of the returning secondary can return to nearly 100% from their respective injury status, Cal Poly’s defensive backfield may be one of the more underrated units in the Big Sky. Combined, the Mustangs defense can potentially be a top 10 unit nationally. To be sure, the loss of Williams and Broadous will be felt statistically, but I genuinely believe that there is plenty of firepower returning. The key will be at the QB and OL positions, but Cal Poly fans sense that the returning offensive players will want to write their own chapter, and the 2013 Mustang edition will have the talent pool to author plenty of excitement. Go Poly!!!

Great article, As far as running backs to replace Williams in 2013, take a look at a couple of the freshmen who red-shirted this year. I don’t know, personally, but Coach Walsh thinks he has a couple of winners.
