Cal Poly’s homecoming game certainly didn’t start the way the Mustangs wanted. A flea-flicker and second long pass put Portland State up 7-0 two plays into the contest.
After tying the game at 7, Cal Poly gave up another touchdown on a 57-yard fumble recovery.
The Mustangs fought back. Andre Broadous threw a 31-yard touchdown to Cole Stanford and scored a second touchdown on the ground. When Bobby Zalud kicked a 49-yard field-goal, Cal Poly led by three. After trading fumbles in the final 3 minutes, Portland State tied the halftime score at 17 with a field-goal with 22 seconds left in the half.
Deonte Williams has over 100 yards already, giving him six 100-yard games out of seven this season.
I’m not sure if Alex G Spanos Stadium is full for the game tonight, but if it’s not a sell-out, it’s nearly one. Cal Poly has been a second-half team all season and it will be interesting to see if that trend continues.
There is a pretty heavy mist that has been falling too, which may be contributing to the uncharacteristic turnovers.
