Mike, I feel your pain. Nobody seems to ever want to take any responsibility for this one. The same thing used to be true about the Lakers road games… It’s one of the main reasons I got rid of DirecTV… I actually don’t have any cable anymore. When I want to make an effort to watch either team, I’ll go to a bar or a friend’s house. It’s not worth the hassle…

We have the same problem in Palm Springs/Palm Desert. When the Dodgers played the Marlins, it is blacked out on MLB Network or even Fox Sports Florida, etc. I spent over one hour on the phone with DirecTV and they blame it on the FCC. Why does Time Warner provide KCAL in this market as well as at my parents’ house in San Diego, Orange County, etc., but not here. Nobody at DirecTV or the Dodgers seems to care.

Dodgers vs Yankees in LA tomorrow night and it’s on KCAL…I could just scream!! Vinnie will be calling the game and I won’t be able to watch it at home because I have DirecTV.

I’ve been fighting this fight for years living in Orcutt. I just saw the 2013 Dodgers schedule and sure enough, tons of games on KCAL that I won’t be watching. It’s such bad logic: blackout games on MLB Extra Innings because they are available on KCAL, but then at the same time, blackout KCAL because it’s not available in Santa Barbara/SLO counties. Why black it out on Extra Innings if KCAL isn’t available here?

Also live in SLO. Drives me NUTS. I’ll never switch off DirecTV. I’m also a Chiefs fan so the Sunday Ticket is too valuable.

I am having the exact same problem.. except I am a Giants fan, so the only games I can’t watch are against the Dodgers which right now, are the most important!!

I’m glad I finally found out why. Whenever I call Directv they act like they don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. I paid the extra 10 bucks for the sports package, and distinctly asked the Directv guy, “So, if I get this, how many of the games are STILL going to be blacked out,” He told me, “None sir.” LIES!
