Jose Reyes Free Agent News: Medusa Braided Star Headed to Orange County?

Make no mistake: Jose Reyes wants to be an LA Angel’ and has since July.

But the question is whether or not the Angels want Jose.

If Erick Aybar or Howie Kendrick are lost to arbitration, team management could be staring at a disoriented and broken infield.

Would the Angels then take a look at the speedy base-stealer? And if so, could they afford him?

Reyes is currently considering an offer from the Marlins between 70 and 90 million over six years. An offer that seems outside the Angels economic parameters due to the Weaver signing.

And though Reyes has been a supreme talent on the basepaths since 2005, averaging 48.3 steals per season, his poor track record health-wise is something the Angels can’t afford.

Paying off Vernon Wells’ $20 million a year contract is paralyzing enough. Tacking on a six-year deal for a player with an attitude in question and inconsistent health, could bury them alive.

Locking up a corner infielder at third was and still is the team’s main priority.

Rumors regarding another Met star, David Wright, have been swirling since early November…and they should. But nothing has formalized.

And without a deal…without a sure sign…the Halos grow weary with frustration hoping to turn their luck in a positive direction.

It will be a waiting game when it comes to the team’s immediate future.

Bidding for both Prince Fielder or Albert Pujols is not out of the question, nor is the idea of moving a host of youngsters for a veteran bat in return.

But whether or not Aybar or Kendrick head elsewhere, will ultimately be the tell all sign to a hot Orange County hook up with Jose Reyes and his Medusa of braids.
