The word is out. JD Scroggin is leaving the San Luis Obispo Tribune. In his last podcast appearance while on the college beat at Cal Poly, Owen and JD spend some time reflecting on the past 5-10 years of Cal Poly sports.

Unlike previous podcasts he’s been on, JD reflects on some superlatives during his time covering Cal Poly and prep sports in San Luis Obispo County. Who’s the most interesting coach he’s interviewed? I’ll give you a hind, it’s not someone from Cal Poly.

This podcast is a little long (almost an hour and a half), but for anyone who has read JD’s articles over most of the past decade, I hope it’s informative and interesting. Also, in the spirit of full disclosure, this podcast is taped from the car.

On the eve of the premier of SanLuisObispo.com‘s new Preps Box Live web show, the Tribune’s Alex J. Jankowski joins the podcast to discuss the new online show. With CIF Playoffs starting this week for over a dozen local teams, we also talked about the playoff outlook for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, and girls water polo.
